A la tienne, Claude

The recent passing away of Claude Berri had an unexpected side-effect for me: I realized that the soundtrack of the Stella Artois commercials which has been annoying me on a regular basis in movie theaters (it's actually not that bad - just long, and the rustic/nostalgic thing kind of irks me) was actually the score of Manon des Sources. The Eureka moment came while I was listening to the obituary on the BBC, and heard this strangely familiar music, which I quickly associated with beer. Like it or not, advertisement is powerful.

Something unusual

L and I went to a Chinese restaurant yesterday, and the Oriental Wisdom of fortune cookies had some strange advice:

My car has been beeping at me all day long, and decided to spill oil at a rate such that I had to return to the mechanic for a refill, only one day after having the oil changed. That's unusual, but I really didn't do it, technically. Maybe I'll go to bed early?

Urban Friday

I knew there were pirates in my neighborhood, but now I found this on Mission. Savages, too?
